Astra Woven Pendant Light — bohemian elegance and organic textures.
Embrace the warmth of organic design with the Astra Woven Pendant Light. Meticulously crafted from tightly woven natural jute rope over a sturdy metal frame, this stunning tiered chandelier embodies bohemian-chic and coastal aesthetics.
Its beautifully layered silhouette casts a soft, diffused ambient light that brings a rustic yet highly refined atmosphere to dining rooms, kitchens, and cozy living spaces.
The tiers are what separate this from a plain woven drum. Each layer catches light on its upper curve and throws a shadow onto the one below, so the shade has real depth by daylight, and after dark the stepped edges lay concentric rings of light and shadow across the ceiling.
Handwoven Natural Jute
Every Piece Is Slightly Different
Because this fixture is crafted from authentic natural jute fibers, slight variations in colour tone, thickness, and texture are inherent to the artisanal weaving process.
These unique characteristics ensure your pendant is a bespoke piece of organic art, perfect for adding tactility to your home.
In plain terms: your shade will look like the photographs, but it will not be an exact copy of them. That is the material and the craft, not a defect.

Before You Order
LED Bulbs Only — Dry Plant Fibre Around the Bulb
The shade is natural jute rope, a dry plant fibre wrapped over a metal frame with the bulb inside it. An incandescent, halogen, or Edison filament bulb runs hot enough to scorch and discolour fibre over time.
Fit a cool-running LED only, and contact us to confirm the bulb type and maximum wattage before buying.
Dry Indoor Rooms Only
For dry indoor locations. Natural jute absorbs moisture, swells, sags out of shape, and grows mould in damp air, and a coastal or humid porch is enough to ruin a woven shade.
Not for bathrooms, not directly above a sink or hob, and not for covered porches or anywhere outdoors, despite the coastal look.
Some Details Still to Confirm
The bulb type and quantity, wattage, voltage, weight, and cord length are not listed for this fixture yet. Please contact us before ordering and we will confirm them for the size you want, along with anything your electrician needs.
Choosing a Size
| Size | Metric | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Medium — ⌀19.7″ × H11.8″ | ⌀50 × 30 cm | A round table for four, an entry, or a living area |
| Large — ⌀23.6″ × H14.5″ | ⌀60 × 37 cm | A table for six, a kitchen island, or a full statement piece |
Placement
Over a dining table, choose a shade roughly half to two thirds the width of the table, and centre it on the table rather than on the room.
Hang the bottom 30 to 36″ above a surface, and keep at least 7 ft of clear headroom in any walkway. The shade itself is 11.8 to 14.5″ tall, so add that to your cable drop.
Going one size bigger is the more common regret-free choice. A woven shade carries a large size gracefully because it stays visually light, and an undersized one over a wide table looks like an afterthought.
Leave ceiling above it. The tiered shadows need a surface to land on, so an open ceiling is part of the effect. Tucked under a low soffit, half of it is lost.
What the Light Is Like
Warm and Atmospheric Rather Than Bright
Tightly woven natural fibre absorbs a good deal of light rather than reflecting it, so most of the useful output goes straight down through the open bottom while the shade itself glows softly.
Over a dining table or in a living room it is exactly right. Over a working kitchen island, pair it with under-cabinet or recessed lighting.
Use 2700–3000K warm white, which brings out the honey tone of the jute. Cool white makes natural fibre look grey and dusty.
A frosted or opal bulb is the right choice. The shade is open at the bottom, so a clear or filament bulb is visible and glaring from a seated position.

Care
Keep It Dry, and Brush Rather Than Wipe
Dust with a soft brush, a feather duster, or a low-suction vacuum brush, which reaches into the weave where a cloth cannot. Avoid water, steam, and damp cleaning products — jute should be kept dry.
A tiered shade collects dust on every upper ledge, and it greys pale fibre from above where nobody looks. Include the top of each tier a few times a year.
Over a kitchen counter, airborne cooking grease works into the weave and is very hard to remove. Dust it regularly rather than trying to clean it later.
Handle it by the metal frame rather than the rope, and expect natural jute to vary in tone between batches and to mellow slightly with time and light.
