Good to Know
Rated IP44 — What That Actually Means
IP44 means it is protected against splashing water from any direction. It is built for a patio, a porch, a garden, a walkway, or a covered entrance, and it will handle rain and weather.
What it is not rated for is being submerged or jet-washed. Do not immerse it, do not point a pressure washer at it, and do not install it where it sits in standing water or where snow can pile up around the fitting.
It will last longest somewhere with a little shelter, such as under an eave or a porch roof, rather than fully exposed on an open pergola.
Low-Voltage DC Versions Available
Custom DC 12V and 24V versions can be made. That matters for garden lighting run off a transformer, off-grid or solar setups, and boats or cabins.

Use an Outdoor-Rated LED Bulb
The shade is acrylic and polycarbonate. Fit a cool-running LED, not an incandescent, halogen, or Edison filament bulb — sustained heat yellows and clouds both materials, and a clouded lantern loses most of its light output.
Choose a bulb rated for damp or wet locations. Outdoors, a bulb also faces cold starts and temperature swings, and a cheap indoor LED will flicker or fail early in winter.

Outdoor Wiring Needs an Electrician
This is hardwired. Outdoor electrical work has its own requirements in most places, including weatherproof connections and, in North America, GFCI protection on the circuit.
Have it installed by a licensed electrician, into a rated exterior ceiling box.
Features
Genuinely Weather-Rated
IP44 throughout, so it stays outside all year rather than coming in each autumn.
Aged Lantern Look
A sepia and yellow finish that reads as weathered from the day it goes up, and only improves as it settles in.
Light, Not Heavy
Acrylic and polycarbonate panes rather than glass, so nothing to shatter in wind or hail.
Choosing a Size
| Size |
Dimensions |
Suits |
| Small |
⌀7.9″ × H12.6″ (20 × 32 cm) |
A porch, a back door, or a run of several along a walkway or pergola |
| Large |
⌀11.8″ × H19.7″ (30 × 50 cm) |
A front entrance, a covered patio, or anywhere it should read as the main fixture |
Keep at least 7 ft of clear headroom below any lantern over a path, doorway, or seating area, and more where people carry things past it. Along a walkway, a run of the small size spaced evenly reads better than one large lantern in the middle.
Bulbs
E26 or E27, Not Included
Takes a standard E26 bulb in the US and Canada, or E27 in Europe, the UK, and Australia.
Warm white at 2700–3000K is the right choice outdoors. It suits the antique styling, and warm light attracts noticeably fewer insects than cool white or daylight bulbs — which matters a great deal on a patio in summer.
If you hang several along a path, buy all the bulbs at once and identical. A mismatched one in a row is very visible at night.

Care
Outdoor Fittings Need an Annual Check
Clean the panes with a soft cloth and a little mild soapy water, then dry them. Never use ammonia or alcohol-based glass sprays on acrylic or polycarbonate — they craze the surface into fine cracks permanently.
Once a year, check that the seals and fixings are still sound and that no water is sitting inside the lantern. Clear out insects and leaf debris, which build up in outdoor fittings and hold moisture against the fitting.
The finish is meant to look aged, so weathering is part of the design rather than a fault.
