Overview
Hand-layered mulberry silk, gathered into the shape of a cocoon.
Silk is translucent in a way no synthetic diffuser manages. Light passes through the layered fibres and comes out soft and cloud-like, with the faint grain of the silk visible across the surface.
Because each shade is built up by hand, the gathers and the density of the layers are never quite the same twice.
One size at 17.7″ across, in white, with a standard screw-in bulb so the brightness is your choice.
Before You Order
Fit an LED Bulb, Nothing Else
Silk sits close to the lamp. Do not fit an incandescent or halogen bulb, which will yellow the fibres and, over time, scorch them.
Use a cool-running LED, and contact us to confirm the maximum wattage before you buy bulbs.
Dry Indoor Rooms Only
IP20 means no moisture protection at all. Not for bathrooms, covered porches, or anywhere outdoors.
Keep it away from kitchen steam and cooking grease too, as silk cannot be wet cleaned.

Where It Works
Soft Light, Not Task Light
The whole shade glows rather than pushing light downward, which makes it flattering over a dining table, a bed, or a lounge seating area.
It is atmosphere rather than work light. For a kitchen or a desk, add downlights or a task lamp alongside it.
Over a dining table, hang the bottom of the shade 30–36″ above the tabletop.
Choosing a Bulb
Bulbs Are Not Included
The socket takes an E26 bulb in the US and Canada, or an E27 bulb in Europe, the UK, and Australia.
A warm white LED at 2700–3000K suits the silk best; cooler light makes white silk look grey. A frosted rather than clear bulb keeps the glow even across the layers.

Care
Looking After Mulberry Silk
Dust with a dry soft brush, or a vacuum on the lowest suction held slightly away from the surface.
Never use water, solvents, or any cleaning product, and never press or iron the silk. Marks on silk are permanent, so the aim is to keep dust off rather than to clean it later.
Keep it out of direct sunlight, which weakens and yellows silk fibres over time.
