The Avelora Paper Rattan Pendant Light brings a relaxed woven texture to the room with its wide layered shade and warm natural tone.
Crafted from paper rattan cord with solid wood details, the open-weave structure allows the light to filter through softly while creating a calm organic silhouette.
The open weave is the whole point, and it does something a solid shade cannot. Light escapes through the weave as well as below it, so the shade glows rather than going dark, and it throws a fine woven pattern of light and shadow across the ceiling and the walls around it. The room gets the texture, not just the fixture.
Available in ⌀50 cm, ⌀60 cm, and ⌀80 cm sizes, it works beautifully above dining tables, in bedrooms, reading corners, living rooms, sunrooms, and relaxed natural interiors.

Before You Order
LED Bulbs Only — This Shade Is Woven Paper
Paper rattan is exactly what it sounds like: twisted paper cord. It is beautiful and surprisingly tough, but it is a dry paper fibre sitting directly around the bulb.
Use the included 9W LED, or another cool-running LED, and never an incandescent, halogen, or real filament bulb. Heat scorches, darkens and embrittles paper fibre, and that damage does not come back.
If you like the Edison look, use an LED filament bulb instead.
Dry Indoor Rooms Only
Indoor dry locations only. Paper rattan absorbs moisture, sags out of shape, and grows mould in damp air — more readily than cane or natural rattan, because the fibre is paper.
Not for bathrooms, not directly above a sink or hob, and not for covered porches or anywhere outdoors.
A sunroom is fine as long as it stays dry, but keep it out of long direct sunlight, which fades and yellows paper fibre unevenly over the years.
The Bulb Is Included, and It Is the Right One
One E27 9W 3000K warm-white bulb comes with the fixture, so it works the day it is installed — and 3000K is the temperature that makes natural fibre look honey-coloured rather than grey.
When you replace it, use a frosted or opal bulb, never a clear one. On an open weave the bulb is visible through the gaps, and a bare filament turns the woven shadow pattern into glare.
E27 is the standard screw base in Europe, the UK and Australia; North America uses E26. Contact us before buying a replacement and we will confirm the right base for your country.

Placement
Over a dining table, choose a shade roughly half to two thirds the width of the table, and centre it on the table rather than on the room.
Hang the bottom 30 to 36″ above a surface, and keep at least 7 ft of clear headroom in any walkway. The cord is 1.2 m / 47.2″ and adjustable during installation.
All three are shallow for their width, so most of your drop is cord and they sit easily under a standard 8 ft ceiling. A woven shade also carries a large size gracefully, because light passes through it and it never reads as a heavy block — going one size up is the more common regret-free choice.
Leave ceiling above it. The woven shadow pattern needs a surface to land on, so an open ceiling is part of what you are buying. Under a low soffit, half the effect is lost.
What the Light Is Like
Textured and Warm Rather Than Bright
Woven fibre absorbs a good deal of light, so expect an atmospheric, patterned glow rather than a hard working pool — ideal over a dining table, in a bedroom, or in a reading corner. In a working kitchen, pair it with under-cabinet or recessed lighting.
Stick with 2700–3000K warm white. Cool white makes natural fibre look grey and dusty, and flattens the texture you bought it for.

Installation and Care

Hardwired ceiling installation is required; a licensed electrician is recommended.
Dust It Dry, and Never Wet Paper Fibre
Turn off the power first, then dust gently with a soft dry duster or a soft brush, which reaches into the weave where a cloth only skates over the top. A low-suction vacuum brush works well too.
Avoid water, spray cleaners, harsh chemicals, and rough cloths. Water swells and stains paper rattan permanently, and a rough cloth catches and lifts the fibre.
Dust settles on the upper curve of the shade where nobody looks, and on an open weave it is lit from behind, so it shows. Include it a few times a year.
Over a kitchen counter, airborne cooking grease works into the weave and cannot be removed — dust it regularly rather than trying to clean it later.
The solid wood canopy takes a dry cloth along the grain, with no polish and nothing damp.
