Overview
The Ant Nest Pendant Lamp is a sleek and elegant work of art, crafted from resin.
Its unique design and warm light will add a Zen-like atmosphere to any interior. Perfect for fans of Japanese minimalism style.
The appeal of this shape is how it handles light rather than how it looks switched off. The chambered, hollowed form breaks the light into soft pockets instead of one flat wash, so the shade has depth and quiet shadow across it, which is what gives the piece its calm.
Two sizes, in four muted colours.

Before You Order
Fit an LED Bulb, Nothing Else
The shade is resin. Never fit an incandescent, halogen, or Edison filament bulb. Resin yellows with sustained heat and can soften and distort, and on a sculptural form like this any warping is immediately visible. It does not recover.
A cool-running LED avoids this entirely. If you want the filament look, use an LED filament bulb.

Dry Indoor Rooms Only
This fixture is IP20, which means dry indoor locations only. It has no moisture protection.
Do not install it in a bathroom, directly above a sink or hob, on a covered porch, or anywhere outdoors.
Features
Sculptural Form
A chambered, hollowed shape that reads as an object in the room rather than a plain shade.
Soft, Pocketed Light
Light breaks across the form into gentle gradients instead of one flat wash.
Light to Hang
Resin weighs far less than stone or cement in the same size, so installation is straightforward.
Choosing a Size
| Size | Dimensions | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Small | ⌀17.7″ × H11″ (45 × 28 cm) | A dining table for four, a bedroom, or a kitchen island as a pair |
| Large | ⌀23.6″ × H13.8″ (60 × 35 cm) | A dining table for six, or a living room where it should be the focal point |
Over a table, a good rule is a shade roughly half to two thirds the table’s width, with the bottom 30 to 36″ above the surface. In a walkway, keep at least 7 ft of clear headroom underneath. The large size is a substantial object — check it suits the scale of the room, not just the table.
Choosing a Colour
The Colour Changes the Light, Not Just the Look
White gives the brightest, cleanest light and keeps the sculptural form reading as pure shape. The most in keeping with Japanese minimalism.
Beige warms the light slightly and softens the whole piece. The easiest to live with in a room with timber or natural textiles.
Grey is the quietest. It recedes into a pale ceiling and lets the form do the work rather than the colour.
Black is the outlier. It absorbs rather than diffuses, so almost all the light goes downward and the shade reads as a dark graphic silhouette. Dramatic, but choose it for the look rather than for brightness.
Bulbs
E26 or E27, Not Included
Takes a standard E26 bulb in the US and Canada, or E27 in Europe, the UK, and Australia.
Warm white at 2700–3000K is the right choice here. The whole point of the piece is a calm, Zen atmosphere, and cool white undoes that in one step.
Use a frosted bulb rather than a clear one. A visible filament inside a soft sculptural shade fights the effect and creates a hot bright spot.

Care
Dust Settles in the Recesses
A chambered form catches dust in every hollow, and it shows once the light is on. Use a soft brush or a vacuum on low suction with a brush head, which reaches into the recesses better than a cloth.
Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners, which haze resin permanently. A barely damp cloth, dried straight away, is enough for the outer surfaces.
Keep the pale colours out of strong direct sunlight, which yellows resin over time.
